University Program in Genetics and Genomics

Many of the students in Center labs matriculated at Duke via the University Program in Genetics and Genomics. The UPGG spans some 70 member labs and 64 students, including many within the Center. The program spans eleven different departments at Duke, and serves as a bridge between the Medical Center and the College of Arts and Sciences. Twelve students are admitted per year, and following rotations in three labs within the program, choose a laboratory with which to affiliate. In addition to the University Program in Genetics and Genomics, the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology graduate program also directly admits graduate students and affords additional opportunities for graduate training in the areas of genetics, microbiology, and microbial pathogenesis.
